The short version
  • Some equipment on recipes can link to a shop where you can buy it. Those links are marked "affiliate link".
  • If you buy something through one, we may earn a small commission from the shop. It costs you nothing extra.
  • It never changes which equipment a recipe lists, and it does not affect the price you pay.

What are affiliate links?

An affiliate link is a normal link to a shop with a code in it that tells the shop we sent you. If you go on to buy something, the shop may pay us a small commission. The price you pay is the same as if you had gone to the shop directly.

Where you will see them

On a recipe page, the Equipment section shows an icon for each piece of equipment the recipe needs. When we have chosen a shop for an item, that icon becomes a link labelled "Find one", and a note under the list says some links are affiliate links. Equipment without a link is shown as a plain icon.

The links open in a new tab and are marked sponsored and nofollow for search engines. We do not show prices, because prices change and we do not want to show you one that is out of date.

How equipment is chosen

Equipment on a recipe is picked by whoever wrote or imported the recipe, with suggestions based on the words in the method. Whether a link exists for an item plays no part in that.

Counting clicks

When you use one of these links it goes through our own address first, so we can count how many times each link is used and send you on to the shop. We keep a simple total per link per day. We do not record who you are, and the count is not linked to your account. We also apply a small limit on how often one address can be counted, so the totals are not skewed by robots.

Once you are on the shop's website, it will have its own privacy policy and may set its own cookies (usually to remember that we sent you). We do not control these; please read the shop's own policies.
