About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and StillHumanDesign ("we", "us"), who run Thyme en Place at thyme-en-place.com (the "service"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Please also read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which explain how we handle your information.

The service

Thyme en Place is a private recipe book. It lets you save recipes (typed in, pasted, or imported from a link), plan weekly menus, build shopping lists, and share recipes, menus and shopping lists with other people. The service is invite-only and free to use. We may add, change or remove features from time to time.

Your account

  • You need an invite to create an account, and you must be at least 13 years old.
  • Give us accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password safe and do not share your account. You are responsible for what happens under it. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got in.
  • Invites are for people you know. Do not sell them or hand them out in bulk.

Your content

"Your content" means the recipes, notes, photos, menus, lists and anything else you add to the service.

  • It stays yours. We do not own your content.
  • What you allow us to do with it. You give us permission to store it, copy it as needed to run and back up the service, and show it to the people you choose to share it with. This permission ends when your content is deleted, apart from copies that remain in backups until they are replaced.
  • What you promise. You have the right to add it, it does not break the law or anyone else's rights, and it is not harmful, abusive or misleading.

Recipes from other people and websites

Many recipes belong to the people and companies who wrote them. The import feature is for keeping a personal copy of a recipe you have found, with a link back to where it came from. Please do not use it to republish other people's work, or to build a public collection of it. If you share a recipe you imported, you are responsible for being entitled to do so.

We are not connected to, or endorsed by, the websites and platforms you can import from, such as Instagram, TikTok, HelloFresh or Gousto. Their names and logos belong to them. Importing depends on those services and may stop working without notice.

Sharing

  • When you share something you choose who can see it. People you share with see the current version, which changes as you change it, until you stop sharing.
  • They can view it and save their own copy. A saved copy is theirs, so stopping sharing does not remove copies already saved.
  • If you share with an email address that is not a member, we email them a private link. Anyone who has that link can view what you shared, so only send it to people you trust.
  • Do not share anything that includes other people's private information, and do not use sharing or friend requests to send unwanted messages.
  • You can stop sharing at any time from the Sharing page, and you can block someone who is bothering you.

What you must not do

You must not:

  • break the law, or use the service to harm, harass, threaten or impersonate anyone;
  • upload anything unlawful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
  • send spam, or use friend requests, invites or sharing to contact people who do not want to hear from you;
  • try to get into anyone else's account or content, or probe the service for weaknesses;
  • use the import feature to reach anything other than ordinary public web pages;
  • get round the limits we put in place, or use bots or scrapers to copy the service or its content; or
  • interfere with the service so that others cannot use it properly.

Estimates, food safety and accuracy

  • Nutrition and prices are estimates. Figures are either taken from the recipe's source or roughly calculated from typical ingredient values. Costs are rough guesses, not live shop prices. They are not dietary, medical or shopping advice.
  • Allergies and dietary needs. Always check ingredient labels and the original recipe yourself. Do not rely on the service to tell you whether something is safe for you to eat.
  • Automatic reading of posts. Recipes read from social media captions, including with the help of AI, can contain mistakes such as wrong quantities. Check them before you cook.
  • Cooking safely. Cooking times, temperatures and methods are a guide. Use your own judgement and follow proper food-safety practice.

Availability

We aim to keep the service running and take backups, but it is provided free and "as is", and we cannot promise that it will always be available, error-free or that nothing will ever be lost. Please keep your own copy of any recipe that matters to you. We may change, pause or end the service, and if we plan to end it we will give members reasonable notice by email or on the site where we can.

Ending your use

You can stop using the service at any time. To have your account deleted, email thyme.en.place@gmail.com. We may suspend or close an account, with or without notice, if you break these terms, misuse the service or put other people at risk. Sharing you have set up ends when an account is closed.

Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot legally be limited or excluded.

Subject to that, and because the service is free and provided "as is", we are not responsible for losses that were not a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms, for loss of data, recipes or content, for losses caused by something outside our reasonable control, or for any business or commercial loss (the service is for personal use). We are not responsible for the content or availability of other websites and services, including those you import from.

Nothing in these terms affects the legal rights you have as a consumer.

Our ownership

The service itself, including its design, software, text and branding, belongs to us or our licensors, and you may use it only as these terms allow. Names and logos of other companies belong to them.

Copyright and other complaints

If you believe something on the service infringes your rights, or you want to report content that breaks these terms, email thyme.en.place@gmail.com with a link to the content and an explanation. We will look into it promptly and may remove the content while we do.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. If we make an important change we will tell members by email or a notice on the site. If you keep using the service after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can deal with any dispute, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you can also bring a claim in your local courts.
